Sketch and Extrude

Sketch and Extrude are two of the most common tools you will use in Fusion. Together, I would estimate that they make up around 40% of all operations that we do, so it is important that you learn to use them properly.

To make a sketch, click on the "Create Sketch" icon, and click on the surface you want to make the sketch on. You should end up with a screen like this:

Most of the work we do can be done using the "Create" and "Modify" menus, so you shouldn't worry too much about the rest of the interface. When you click the drop down menus and mouse over tools, you will see descriptions of each tool, which I think are quite informative. Try experimenting with these by yourself!

Now, to extrude. The extrude tool allows you to select a face or sketch object, and add depth to it, creating a 3D object.

The menu on the left has several useful features, but at this early stage you should mainly focus on the Operation tab. The most common options you'll be using are New Body, Join, and Cut. New Body is quite intuitive, as it simply creates a new body. Join allows you to add on to an existing body, and cut allows you to remove material from an existing body.
Now is a good time to work on the first challenge here
